M7 - Clip 1
Swanage as it was: in the summer of 1956 Bournemouth pull-push fitted M7 no. 30128 arrives in the bay platform with a pair of ex-LSWR p-p coaches.
The Dorset Belle - clip 2
We arrive at Swanage on 27th February 1966 aboard “The Dorset Belle” and then watch our two Ivatt “Mickey Mouse” tanks run-round before returning along the line passing through Corfe Castle on their way to Wareham.
The Dorset Coast Express - clip 3
The very last steam-hauled railtour to Swanage took place on 7th May 1967, just two months before all Southern steam was eliminated. The branch would soon be reduced to a simple single line so the train was “top 'n tailed” to Swanage by Original Bulleid Pacific no. 34023 “Blackmore Vale” and Standard class 4 mogul no. 76076. These are initially seen on the main line from Wareham at Worgret Junction before being filmed again at Corfe Heath with the famous castle in the background. The disused bay and run-round tracks and signal box are then seen at Swanage as the train reverses and then passes New Barn before our final views at Corfe Castle station.
